Artist Statement
The Garage Art Girls Alliance, founded in 2007, is a group of Eco conscious artists, who work, create and show art together. Each member brings different artistic strengths and creative abilities to the group. We come together to discuss and critique each other’s work as well as brain storm ideas that enhance our personal styles. Our combined energies, humor and enthusiasm for art bring out our best qualities.
GaGa is committed to making art, supporting art in our community and teaching. Part of our focus is to return art to the community and we have collaboratively participated in many community and group art shows. Recent shows that we have created art pieces for include; Wild Bras on Parade- Casting for Recovery, With-In the Frame- AWAIC, Trash to Treasure- Salvation Army, and Bark for Art- SPCA.
Spreading the word of conservation through teaching in the community, Junk2Funk Eco Art workshops, that utilize recycled materials to create functional items, have been taught for the Anchorage School District, AYEA (Alaska Youth for Environmental Action), AWAIC, UAA as well as many other community groups in Anchorage.
