Artist Statement

Inger K. Deede is a graphic designer who lives and works in Anchorage, Alaska. She received her art education from study abroad experiences and as an art student at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Her work can be viewed online at her web site, http://www.freshartanddesign.com.

Where do the painted shapes come from?

Some of the shapes are derived from images of leaves, branches, and flowers.

Some of the shapes are created from tracings of shadows on a wall.

Some shapes come from tracing the outlines of found objects.

Some shapes come from tracing the outlines of desired objects.

Some of the shapes come directly from the artist’s imagination.

Snow City has been showing original local artwork since we opened in 1998. We are truly grateful to all of the artists who have shared their work with us, everything from incredibly colorful quilts and marionettes to beautiful watercolor and oil paintings.
