Artist Statement
NATURAL ORDER” is a show of Dano & Joy Michaud’s new works, depicting changes and beauty experienced in our new life in Seward, Alaska, including botanical beauty as well as the sea,the sea life, the idiosyncrasies and the landscapes of the Kenai.
We were long time Eagle River artists who moved to Seward, Alaska in November of 2005.
We hope you enjoy the show, it incorporates both lively and colorful and mixes of beauty with interest - keeping the eye excited and the mind engaged.
In this show we are using two different approaches to our art and life today.
Dano is becoming very interested in painting Orchid’s and is enjoying using large canvas’ to portray their beauty in Oil’s on canvas, with an “in your face” attitude.
Joy has found a vehicle through recyclable items such as old doors, chicken wire, “second round” materials such as silk, gauze, cloth and of course canvas’s, acrylic paints with mediums for build ups to portray her new visions of life in Seward.
The landscapes, the sea life, and the move itself were a huge impact on her art so she is attempting to bring some of Resurrection Bay and her emotions to you all through her art. If you have visited Seward you may even have find some forgotten memories.
We are excited to be back at Snow City Cafe, it is and always will be one of our favorite venues for our art and the art of Alaskans everywhere in the state.
We thank Laile and her staff for their devotion to the purpose of showing local artists in a professional and fun manner to all of you who are Snow City regulars, and to those of you who will hopefully become addicted to the art,atmosphere and food as so many of us have.
