Artist Statement
Julie is a lifetime Alaskan and a professional artist. She is mostly self taught and has nurtured her talent by creating consistently throughout her lifetime. The urge to create has become an obsession and through continuously producing she has developed a unique style and vision. Nature appears in her multi-media work with formed metal elements that represent a recognizable format but are meant to invoke a feeling, a mood, or a response. Her dynamic use of color attracts attention and appreciation that energizes the viewer.
Personal Statement:
I was born to be an artist and a pure generator.
For me being creative is like breathing.
I am constantly thinking of ways to
change and improve my work.
It is an endless flow of energy that runs through my brain
then manifests through whichever medium I choose.
The latest driving force of my work is multi-media.
Metal. glass and wood and fiber are endless fodder
for the imagination .
My subject matter includes sealife, people, nature,
mountains, sky, and earth.
Whether its multi-media or single I strive to
keep my work alive and fresh.
