Artist Statement
Katie Sevigny was born in East Chicago, Indiana. She studied art at the Chicago Art Institute and the Academy of Art in Chicago. Katie moved to Haines, AK in 1994 as a young adult searching for a better life. She met her husband Craig in 1997. Together they moved to Anchorage in 2000, married and now have two children, Cooper and Rowan. Her work has evolved from oil realism to whimsical colorful, happy art. She attributes her art evolution to her children, who inspire her daily. Katie currently owns her own gallery downtown.
