Artist Statement

Born and raised in Alaska, Larissa has been very involved and passionate
about her art from the beginning. She finds her inspirations from travel and
nature specifically through her adventures in Asia and the South Pacific.
Her paintings illustrate a fluid, vibrant and romantic depiction of images
found in the world around us. Passion and energy are captivated with each
piece with the attempt to whisk you away, to escape. Go ahead, breathe in
the tropical breeze as you take a bite of ripe mango, swinging back and
forth in your hammock. She hopes you too can experience this escape.
Larissa attended college in the San Francisco bay are a, earning her B.A. at
St. Mary’s College of California. During those years she was a volunteer art
teacher, printmaking T.A. a n d competed annually in college juried art
shows. She studied abroad at Tokyo International University where she was
able to teach private art lessons to a small class (in Japanese!). She has only
recently began selling her pieces but finds this a great opportunity to
become involved and to support our local arts community.

During the winter months we host Alaska Quarterly Review on First Fridays with readings and eclectic music. Check out what's coming up at AQR
