Artist Statement

I enjoy using art to tell stories in which I attempt to capture “snapshot” moments of time. Body language and facial expressions or moods created in landscapes by color and weather conditions or human conditions. It is my intention that the viewer can relate their own stories to those they see in my images.

My whole life has been about expression through the creation of art. I find this lifestyle of art to be a never ending journey. Some days the process is fun and the path is clear. Some days a brutal battle ensues and I do not always come out the winner. Those battles always contribute to the next successful experience and expression or work of art .” My body of work has been described as “all over the place” and not having a focus. Let me assure you that upon each day I find my life “all over the place” and that this art represents me.

My work has received numerous awards and has been exhibited in museums and galleries and is in possession of private and corporate collections in Texas, Louisiana, Alaska and the British West Indies.

I have lived in the Matanuska Susitna Valley for thirty years and have born and raised five offspring while working and attending to my study of art.

Snow City has been showing original local artwork since we opened in 1998. We are truly grateful to all of the artists who have shared their work with us, everything from incredibly colorful quilts and marionettes to beautiful watercolor and oil paintings.
