Artist Statement
Anchorage is famous for the Midnight Sun which produces beautiful flowers in a very short growing season. Because of our long daylight hours, we are able to grow many different kinds of wonderful flowers, greenery and happy, fat, well fed insects.
I have lived in Anchorage most of my life with my husband Ed & our grown sons Brian, & Craig and his wife Meghan. Our home is located in Rabbit Creek and has a large garden of perennial flowers and plants. When we lived in East Anchorage my garden was on the Anchorage Garden Tour twice. I work for an engineering firm as an AutoCAD drafter/designer.
My interest in art has spanned many different avenues having tried stained glass, making beads and beading, pottery, watercolor painting and various other arts & crafts. Flowers and nature have always been a love of mine. It wasn’t until I got a digital camera and a computer that I became fascinated with making the beauty of nature larger than life. The details of nature are amazing when you look at them up close. I never go anywhere without my camera because you never know where the next perfect specimen of Mother Nature might be.
My art is Digitally Enhanced Photographs printed on either canvas or textured fine art papers using my large format 12 color ink-jet printer with pigmented ink. This technique is also known today as Giclee.
I hope you enjoy seeing the beauty of nature through my eyes.
